"Blue Christmas"

We realize the holidays are not happy for everyone. These Blue Christmas and Longest Night services are meant for people who don’t feel like celebrating this season due to grief and loss, financial struggles, depression, or other challenges.  For a list of "Blue Christmas" and  "Longest Night" services in the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod, please download the flyer, below (please check back frequently, as more will be added - updated as of 12/1/17):

Since 2009, we have partnered with Lutheran SeniorLife to improve the health and wellness of our congregations through initiatives such as: • Faith community nursing (parish nursing)
• Exercise programs
• Blood pressure and other screenings
• Health awareness
• Volunteer activities and outreach
• Support group formation
• Informational speakers

Through ministries like these, participants achieve a stronger balance between the many factors that impact one’s health – spiritual, physical, mental/emotional, financial, vocational, social/relational, and environmental wellness – resulting in stronger congregations and communities.

If you are interested in starting or expanding a health and wellness ministry in your congregation, please contact Patty Davidson, Health & Wellness Ministry Coordinator, at (412) 367-8222 or patricia.davidson@lutheranseniorlife.org. Patty is available to visit with you or your team to brainstorm ideas, to provide training, to assist with planning, and to implement any activities that support whole-person health.
