Scouting
The development of faith is supported by work done through scouting programs. The mission of the Subcommittee on Scouting is to encourage and promote the Christian spiritual growth of young people. Youth who have earned a religious award receive a congratulatory letter from Bishop Kurt Kusserow.
Programs of Religious Activity with Youth (P.R.A.Y.) www.praypub.org provides grade appropriate approved lessons and projects for young people to complete with a mentor/parent on the journey toward earning their religious award. Lessons and projects are reviewed and signed by the youth's pastor. The subcommittee is also in partnership with the National Lutheran Association on Scouting (NLAS) www.nlas.org and supports their continuing mission to promote the religious growth of youth within Lutheran and other Christian Churches.
Throughout the year, subcommittee members are available to help congregations interested in having any of their youth (Scouts, Sunday School, or VBS) start a religious award program. Our vision is that all young people and their families learn more about Jesus Christ and have the opportunity to know him as Lord and Savior. We want to equip the children of today to become church leaders for today and tomorrow.
