Seminarian Support and Development Fund
The Seminarian Development and Support Fund
Through this fund the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod provides:
- Special gifts to seminarians over and above the synod's budgeted financial aid, providing emergency assistance to seminarians and their families, additional support for costs associated with the Clinical Pastoral Education requirement, and other unexpected needs such as health care assistance.
- Summer Pastoral Shadowing experiences for young people exploring a call to ordained and lay rostered ministries.
- Discernment retreats for persons exploring church vocations
The amount of support that can be offered to seminarians is directly proportionate to the amount of money in the fund. All gifts, large and small, are greatly appreciated at any time throughout the year! November is the month during which the synod especially lifts up this fund for special attention on the "Calendar of Causes" within the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod.
Please consider making a contribution to the Seminarian Development and Support Fund. Here are some suggestions that your congregation may consider:
- Publicize this information in the Sunday bulletin or newsletter to encourage gifts from individuals in your congregation.
- Encourage your congregation's endowment fund committee to designate interest received on the endowment fund for this ministry.
- Designate offerings received at special worship services (including Installation services) for this ministry
Our synod's seminarians often speak of the encouragement they feel knowing that the people of this synod care for them through prayer and tangible gifts. The Summer Pastoral Shadowing Program continues to offer life-changing experiences for high school and college youth. Help us continue to provide this necessary support to our future leaders.
Thank you for considering a gift to the
