Leading on the Other Side: Retooling for What the World and the Church Need Next

Ember Day - Leading on the Other Side - FB Event.png

AN ONLINE EMBER DAY* EDUCATIONAL EVENT for ROSTERED MINISTERS.

The future of the Church and our communities were volatile even before the traumas of the past year began to unfold; how now do we equip ourselves for leadership on the far side of the horizon? Rev. Louise Johnson joins our ministerium for a creative exploration of what comes next and the adaptive leadership our faith is calling us to.

With the support of our colleagues in ministry, we will unpack the questions many of us share: Can I keep doing this? What does God need from the Church? What do we need to leave behind and what do we need to bring into the future?

Ember Days help us to rekindle a passion for gospel by dedicating periodic days of study and refreshment.

 * Unfamiliar with the tradition of Ember Days? Philip H. Pfatteicher sheds light on these observances in Journey into the Heart of God: Living the Liturgical Year:

"The turning of the four season of the natural world has been incorporated into the church's calendar. These are the Ember Days, the name derived from the German Quatember, a corruption of quattuor tempore, "the four times." ... Recognizing an increasing estrangement from the agricultural setting of the Church's calendar, [the Church] replaced the Ember Days with prayer for various needs set by regional conferences of Bishops... but eventually replaced by quarterly lectures and examinations in the catechism."
