Restructuring of Standing Committees

 

Synod Council proposed the following continuing resolution to the 2022 Synod Assembly. You are invited to provide constructive feedback in the form below.

CR104.04.02 There shall be five Standing Committees of the Synod:

  • Care and Leadership for Congregations: to coordinate those ministries in our synod that provide support to congregations through training, education, and collaboration so that they can effectively tell the Story of Jesus.

    • For example: Small Congregation Task Force, Coaching Ministry, lay worship leader development, congregational leadership development, congregational vitality, Congregation Council and officer training, stewardship education, money management education, and new and renewing ministries

  • Care and Leadership for Rostered Ministers: to coordinate those ministries in our synod that provide support to Rostered Ministers of our synod through professional development, by establishing policies and guidelines, and by promoting collegiality, renewal, and refreshment.

    • For example: Bishop’s Convocation, continuing education, care of synod staff, rostered ministers support, compensation guidelines, professional development, and trainings (i.e. Boundaries, Anti-Racism, etc…)

  • Care and Leadership for All Generations: to coordinate those ministries in our synod that reach people in all stages of life through events, educational opportunities and support for established ministry partnerships.

    • For example: YouthFest, Youth Convo, youth events in general, care for people at all stages of life, campus ministry, camping ministry, relationship with institutions of higher education, National Youth Gathering support, Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM)

  • Church In Society: to coordinate those ministries in our synod that address our call to seek the common good by engaging social concerns, especially those addressed by church social statements and messages.

    • For example: antiracism training/awareness, community outreach, advocacy, creation care, hunger education and awareness, feeding ministries, immigration education and advocacy, Authentic Diversity Working Group

  • Church Throughout the World: to connect, support, and advocate for those ministries that are in relationship with our synod, including national and international partners of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

    • For example: missionaries, companion synod, disaster response, global mission, etc.
