Fraudulent Emails
It is an unfortunate reality that scammers will impersonate individuals from time to time; know what to look for before responding to a suspicious email:
Only trust synod emails from @swpasynod.org addresses.
Emails that come from a different domain have not been sent from the synod staff. A recent address used looked like this: "kusserow.swpasynod@gmail.com"Look for bizarre content.
Bishop Kusserow will not ask you to transfer money in bitcoin or purchase gift cards on behalf of the synod. Poor grammar or odd phrases are another clue that this may be fraudulent.Follow-up if you are unsure.
You can reach out to the individual or the synod staff if you are unsure whether the email you received is authentic. If it's clear that this is a scam, feel free to delete or mark as spam; but if you are in doubt, don't hesitate to contact the office.
