Lutheran Church Extension Society
For more than 122 the Lutheran Church Extension Society of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod has been granting interest-free loans to member congregations for new construction, energy conservation, fire and safety projects, and making buildings handicap accessible.
The Lutheran Church Extension Society was incorporated in 1893 for the purpose of lending money, interest free, to Pittsburgh area congregations for the construction of buildings to house them. Throughout its long history, the mission of the Lutheran Church Extension Society has been to serve the financial needs of the congregations of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod by offering interest-free loans.
Through the Board of Managers the Lutheran Church Extension Society grants no-interest loans to member congregations. For an Annual Membership of $50.00 you can join with us in our mission of supporting congregations with interest free loans. At the present time, congregations can borrow up to $25,000.00 for up to 5 years interest free.
In addition to granting loans to congregations the Extension Society also annually supports the Synod’s Intern Program.
