Lutheran Campus Ministry in Greater Pittsburgh

lucpgh.com

Founded in 1946, the Lutheran Campus Ministry in Greater Pittsburgh has served students, faculty and staff at Pitt, Carnegie Mellon, Chatham and Carlow universities. Housed in the Lutheran University Center in the heart of Oakland, the campus ministry provides opportunities for fellowship, service, worship and education. All of these opportunities seek to deepen relationships with God and neighbor. The campus ministry welcomes all students to participate.

Serving, Connecting, & Equipping Congregations:

The Lutheran Campus Ministry continues to be a place where young adults integrate their faith and their studies. Those who commit to a faith community during their university years typically continue to find a way to remain committed after they leave.

How can congregations support luc?

We are in need of financial support. Donations can be made online at our website. We need committed individuals to help with projects around fundraising, property concerns, committee work and other sundry projects. We need contributions for midweek meal. Students love being fed! Finally, we need prayer for our continued ministry.

Downtown Pittsburgh's Lutheran Campus Ministry

flcpittsburgh.org/campus-ministry

Downtown Pittsburgh’s Lutheran Campus Ministry is a ministry of First Lutheran Church, which serves as a congregational campus ministry site. We have varying degrees of presence on Point Park University’s and Duquesne University’s campuses, including relationships with students, administration, and faculty. At Point Park, Pastor Jennifer McCurry serves as their interfaith Community Coordinator of Spiritual Life.

All college and university students are welcome to be involved in our congregational life, as we offer students pastoral support and guidance, a lively faith community, and opportunities to worship and learn about the faith. As a part of our campus ministry vision, we nurture a young adult group that includes students and young professionals through age 35, giving students the opportunity for informal mentoring with adults who are closer in age. We also welcome leadership and service within our congregation and in its outreach ministries, which means that students offer leadership according to how their interests and gifts may best build up the body of Christ: as participants in service projects, worship leaders, musicians, Sunday school teachers, youth group advisors, committee members, and council members.

Serving, Connecting, & Equipping Congregations:

We serve Lutheran congregations by supporting undergraduate and graduate students as they study in Downtown Pittsburgh. We offer opportunities for them to continue growing in their faith and service in Christ’s name.

How can congregations support Downtown campus ministry?

Congregations can support this ministry by introducing us to their students who attend Duquesne or Point Park Universities and by connecting us with their faculty and staff. Contributions in support of our campus ministry are also welcome; please visit our website for more information.
