Commission for a Renewed Lutheran Church
Learn More Here >>

The 2022 ELCA Churchwide Assembly directed the church council to establish a "Commission for a Renewed Lutheran Church" (CRLC) comprised of leaders of diverse representation from all three expressions: congregations, synods, and the Churchwide Organization. This group will present its findings and recommendations to the 2025 Churchwide Assembly in preparation for a possible reconstituting convention to be called under the rules for a special meeting of the Churchwide Assembly.

The Church Council of the ELCA has invited the synods of Region 8 to nominate individuals for the CRLC. Two of those nominees will be appointed to the CRLC by the Church Council Executive Committee. The Synod Council has placed the following names into a pool of 16 nominees from region 8 for the two positions:

  • Dennis Lane

  • Rev. Bill Schaefer

You many still nominate yourself or someone else to be an at-large representative, chosen from an open nomination process, until March 9. Open Nomination Form >>
